The delinquent tax sale for Beaufort County is always the first Monday of October.  The sale will include properties on Hilton Head, Daufuskie, Bluffton and other locations in Beaufort County.  Information can be found on the counties website or just click ”the tax sale “ for more information about the process.

How do you find out about the properties offered?

Take a look at the properties that are on the list of Delinquent Tax Sale properties for Beaufort County in 2012.  This map and chart will help you determine the area that the property is  located in based on the first 3 numbers that follow the R on this list.  Keep in mind, owners of properties can still redeem their property by the end of September.  If you see a property that looks interesting, just email us the tax number and we will help you find out more about the property.

The Bidding Process

The opening bid  includes, delinquent taxes for 2011, all penalties and fees, plus the current year taxes for 2012. This is the minimum opening bid.  There is a bidder application fee and yes they do accept Visa!  Owners will have up to 12 months to redeem their real property paying interest for the time that property was owned by quarter (interest shall not exceed the opening bid), penalties and taxes that are due.

What happens if a property is not redeemed after one year?

If real property is not redeemed, a delinquent tax sale deed is issued to the successful bidder.  All stamp fees and preparation costs must be paid prior to the deed recording and the property is deeded lien free.   If you would like us to do a little digging or due diligence on any of the properties, give me a call at (843)842-0805 or send me an email at robbie@robbiebunting.com.
